About our deck work

Who builds and rebuilds decks around Elgin, SC?

JB Nealy Fence builds decks from the ground up, and we are more than a fence crew. Our new decks are often composite: gray boards, white rails and black balusters on pressure treated framing set on piers. We also tear out tired decks and rebuild them, stairs and rails included, and we build wood decks with wood or wood and wire rails. If you want Trex handrails, we build those too.

Plenty of customers pair the deck with a screen porch, a pergola or a fence. One crew can do all of it, so you deal with one team from the first text to the last board. We are family owned, locally owned and insured, based in Elgin, and we walk the property with you before the build starts. Tell us what you have now and what you want, and we start from there.

We had a new deck built, which required the tear down of our old deck. The price was more than competitive. The process from beginning to end did not disappoint. The old deck was removed quickly and the area cleaned. After the delivery of wood the deck was completed in two days. Amazing talented hard working crew. I highly recommend JB Nealy!
Treavor Graham · Customer review · Sep 2026
Exceptional service from beginning to end! The quality, craftsmanship and professionalism are top tier. I've received numerous compliments on our deck and look forward to completion of our next project. If looking for a team, this is the team to hire.

I have seen them take a deck that was chicken kaka and turn it into chicken salad. Of course that's an analogy, but it is one most Southerners can understand.

Questions

Deck questions, answered

Can you tear out my old deck and build a new one?

Yes. We tear out old decks and rebuild them, and we also build new decks where there was none. One customer described the old deck coming out and the area getting cleaned before the new one went up. Send us a text with photos of what you have, and we will talk through what a rebuild involves.

Should I choose a composite deck or a wood deck?

We build both. Our composite decks pair gray boards with white rails and black balusters. Our wood decks use pressure treated lumber with wood or wood and wire rails. The right one depends on the look you want and how you plan to use the space, so we talk it through on the phone before quoting.

Do you handle permits and HOA requirements?

Customers mention our crew handling county permits and building to HOA standards. Tell us early if you live in an HOA, and we will work from its rules. Requirements differ by county and neighborhood, so we look at your property first and plan the deck around what applies.

Can you build the deck with a screen porch, pergola or fence?

Yes. We build screen porches, pergolas and fences along with decks, so one crew can handle the whole backyard. Many customers add a rail line, a pergola over a pool deck, or a fence once the deck is done. Tell us everything you are considering, and we will quote it together.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes, estimates are free. Getting a quote takes three steps: send us a text, chat on the phone, then receive the quote. We also walk the property with you so the layout, steps and rails fit the way you use your yard. Some materials can have longer lead times, so ask us about them.

Which towns do you build decks in?

We are based in Elgin, SC, and we serve Elgin, Woodcreek, Columbia, West Columbia, Lexington, Seven Oaks, Saint Andrews, Sumter, Florence and Rock Hill, along with Monroe, NC. If you are close to one of those towns but not on the list, send us a text and ask.
