Is vinyl for you

Is vinyl the right fence for your yard in Elgin?

Vinyl suits a yard when you want a clean line, no painting, and no board that rots or gets chewed on. JB Nealy Fence installs white and tan privacy fence, tan and white picket, and black vinyl, for homes in Elgin, Woodcreek, Columbia, Lugoff and around Lake Wateree.

It starts with a text or a call. Then we walk the property with you and mark out the fence line before anything gets built. Vinyl is a good fit when an HOA sets the rules, when carpenter bees have wrecked the old wood, or when a front entrance needs to look finished. The crew can handle county permits and build to HOA standards. Tell us the height and the color you have in mind, and we will tell you what is realistic.

One honest note. Vinyl can have a longer lead time than wood, so ask early, and we will tell you where things stand while you wait.

Colors

White, tan or black vinyl

Three colors we put in the ground around Elgin. Pick the one that sits right against your house, your brick and your yard.

White

White works against brick, siding and green lawn. We build white privacy panels around backyards, and white picket with a double gate at the driveway.

Tan

Tan vinyl privacy fence along a landscaped yard

Tan blends into a landscaped yard and reads warmer than white. We install it as privacy fence and as picket with a gate.

Black

Awesome black vinyl fence at the front entrance to my home on lake Wateree.

Black vinyl goes in at front entrances and along the water. Ask for it when you request your quote.

Privacy or picket

Solid privacy panels or open picket?

Privacy fence

Solid panels with no gaps between them. Nobody sees in, and the dog sees nothing to bark at.

  • Backyards, pool yards and lots close to the neighbors
  • White or tan, with walk gates and wide gates
  • Replaces an old wood privacy fence cleanly

Picket fence

Open slats that mark the line and frame the yard. You keep the view, but you do not get privacy.

  • Front yards, gardens and entrances
  • White or tan, with a gate or a double gate at the drive
  • Keeps kids and dogs inside the line

Upkeep

What a vinyl fence asks of you, on one sheet

Vinyl fence upkeepGeneral guidance

What you do

  • RinseA hose and mild soap take off dirt, pollen and green film. Do it when the fence looks dull.
  • Trim backKeep vines and shrubs off the panels, and leave a little room along the base for the mower and trimmer.
  • Check gatesLook at latches and hinges now and then. Tighten what has worked loose.
  • Fix damageA hit or cracked section can usually be replaced on its own. See fence repair.

What you skip

  • StainingNo stain, no sealer, no recoating schedule. That is a wood fence chore.
  • PaintingThe color is part of the vinyl, so there is nothing to repaint.
  • RotVinyl does not rot, so you are not replacing soft boards at the ground line.
  • Bees and bugsCarpenter bees go after wood, not vinyl.

General guidance for vinyl fence. Ask about the specific style, color and gate hardware on your quote.

Not sure which style or color fits the yard? We will walk it with you and mark out the line.

Customer reviews

What vinyl customers say

… Kept me informed due to longer lead time and delivered and installed 200 feet of fence … not a scratch on it and install looks super nice. Would definitely recommend their services.
Jerry Shearer · Customer review · Aug 2026
We wanted a white vinyl fence because the carpenter bees had eaten our wooden fence to shreds. … JB “Bradley” came out, gave us a quote, explained the process so as to set our minds at ease, and everything was beautiful from there. … They were incredibly cordial, respectful, and hardworking and did an exceptional job!!!!!
Mildred Moore · Customer review · May 2025
Bradley and his team did a great job removing my old wood fence and installing my new grey vinyl fence. … I’m glad I chose them for my fence install.

Questions

Vinyl fence questions, answered straight

How much does a vinyl fence cost?

It depends on the footage, the height, privacy or picket, the color, how many gates you want, and how the ground lays. Taking out an old fence adds work too. We do not guess a number over a text. We walk the property, mark the line, and send a quote with the real figures. The estimate is free.

Why does vinyl take longer to schedule than wood?

Some materials, vinyl included, can have a longer lead time than wood. We tell you about any wait up front and keep you posted until the crew arrives. If you are working toward a date, like a new dog or a family event, say so when you ask for the quote so we can talk it through honestly.

Do you handle permits and HOA approval?

The crew can handle county permits and build to HOA standards. Send us your HOA rules on height, color and style before we mark the line, so the fence goes in the way your neighborhood expects. If you are not sure whether your lot needs a permit, ask when you request the quote.

What happens when I ask for a quote?

Three steps. Send us a text, chat on the phone, and receive a quote. We also walk the property with you and mark out the fence line before the build, so you can see where each run and gate will sit. Estimates are free, and you can say no after seeing the numbers.

Where do you install vinyl fence?

We are based in Elgin, SC and work in Elgin, Woodcreek, Columbia, Lexington, West Columbia, Seven Oaks, Rock Hill, Sumter, Florence, Saint Andrews and Monroe, NC. Vinyl jobs have included a front entrance on Lake Wateree. If your town sits close to that list but is not on it, ask.

Can you replace my old wood fence with vinyl?

Yes. Customers have gone from a wood fence to vinyl, and the old fence comes out as part of the job. Carpenter bees chewing up wood is one reason we hear. Tell us what is standing now and roughly how long the run is, and the quote will cover the tear out and the new fence.
